Elaine has been involved with technology her entire life, but when working for a small software technology company in 2009, she became acutely aware of the shortage of qualified programming resources which were essential for a small company to grow and thrive. Now, several years later, she is in a position to begin to help people develop those important and sought after skills. That’s why she founded Savvy Coders.

Laurie has always had a passion for Information Technology. Starting early in her career, she worked for MasterCard International and was responsible for their Email Help Desk and Training function.

Over the years, she has built a great reputation in the St. Louis area as a Recruiter, Account Executive, and Leader. Her resume and interview preparation are quality-oriented and she works hard to ensure that everyone is as prepared as they can be for the interview, which makes her a great fit for mentoring Savvy Coder students!

Michael wants to use the skills he’s learned to build, design, and deploy applications. Whether on a team or as an individual, he will use his skills to create a positive and lasting impression. In his quest to begin his technical career, he’s attended two boot camps, LaunchCode and Savvy Coders. Most recently, at Savvy Coders, he operated in an Agile/Scrum team to code in Sprints, held daily standups, and performed Retrospectives while creating his capstone project. Once he has a good understanding of something, he can break it apart, put it back together, and move around in it – needless to say, he has strong troubleshooting skills!

Chloe is a Security Engineer at NBCUniversal focusing on security architecture for cloud environments. Prior to NBCU she worked as a Cyber Risk consultant at Deloitte in the Secure Software Enablement group focusing on application security. Outside of work, she volunteers with the 501(c)(3) non-profit Techqueria as a NYC chapter lead and interim board member.

STEPHANIE GRIMSHAW is the Director of Operations for SavvyCoders. She possesses over 20 years of experience within Human Resources, Career Coaching, Business Development, Technology and training – all of which helps her bring deep relationships to the table. Stephanie has also served as an Advisory Board Member for SavvyCoders, is an Instructor, Facilitator, Mentor and Guide.  She have a deep passion for helping others, truly enjoys bringing her knowledge, training and years of experience to the students to help prepare them for their new careers in technology.

Barbe joins the Savvy Team after having retired from a successful first career in Massage Therapy and transitioning to a career in Human Resources. She most recently facilitated hiring, benefits, and compliance for 12 restaurants and 450 employees.

Barbe has a passion for coaching/teaching and is excited to assist graduates of the Savvy Coders bootcamps in finding their employers of choice, while helping them navigate next steps for a rewarding career in IT.

Jon is based in Portland, Oregon and has been building websites since the mid-90s. After earning a Computer Science degree at the University of Georgia in 2008, he entered the professional tech world at a small startup in Washington, D.C. He eventually moved to Bozeman, Montana before completing the Oregon Trail, ending in Portland.
Jon started as a full stack developer, but eventually shifted to focus on front end engineering. He has recently worked for multiple award-winning design agencies as a Sr. Front End Engineer and as a Technical Lead overseeing projects varying in team size and complexity. Jon has a passion for JavaScript (and TypeScript!) and sharing his experience and knowledge with up and coming coders.
Outside of work, Jon enjoys fluid acrylic painting, dice making, video games and paragliding and he will gladly share more than you ever cared to know about any of these subjects. If you’re lucky, you’ll meet his cats while he’s trying to lead classes.

Ashley is a graduate of the Savvy Coders cybersecurity bootcamp and a U.S. Air Force disabled veteran. She joined the Savvy Coders team first as a Teaching Assistant before being promoted to Instructor in the Cyber Security Bootcamp. Ashley currently works as a Desktop Support Technician at Hennessy and Roach, P.C.

Outside of work, she can be found spending time with her family, hiking, tending to her plants (or buying more to add to the collection), and singing karaoke.

Justin is excited to bring his more than 10 years of Startup experience to the Savvy team. His passion for connecting people and ideas has proven invaluable contributions to the companies that he has committed toward. He has been plugged in to the Saint Louis Startup Community since 2013, and is a graduate of the Focus St. Louis Future Leaders curriculum. In addition to creating and facilitating corporate training programs, both in the US and Internationally, he has strategically helped others find their place in the workforce and grow their careers. His hobbies include traveling and historic home restoration and renovation.

David is proud to join Savvy as the Director of Full Stack Enrollment. He is deeply passionate about connecting people. If he can help, he likely will. He is also a dedicated problem solver. Every challenge is an opportunity to grow and evolve, and he embraces the challenge. His brain works in logistics and formulas. He learned a tremendous amount about Full Stack Development and the Agile/Scrum Methodology and acted as the Scrum Master for his team.

Alex has been interested in technology his entire life. After graduating with a Bachelor’s in Political Science from SIUE, Savvy Coders gave him the opportunity he needed to break into a career in tech. Alex is currently working as a Functional Analyst for Accenture Federal Services where he helps deliver complex applications to federal clients. At Savvy Coders he works as a Teaching Assistant in the Full Stack Web Development program, as well as assists students across the cohorts practice project delivery using Agile methodology.

David joins SavvyCoders as an instructor for the Data Analytics + Python boot camp. He currently works as a Data Analyst for a large health insurance company. He has a background in healthcare and was previously a Registered Dietitian who made the switch to data analytics. His passion for technology and data led to his big transition. He is especially proud to be an instructor with SavvyCoders so he can help other students learn the skills necessary to make a career transition. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and photography.

Matt is an experienced solution-minded Senior Software Engineer currently employed at Paramount on the Paramount+ international streaming services web presence. He is dedicated to mentoring students & junior developers in development and career skills. He routinely presents talks and assists in organizing local Meetups. In his personal time, he likes to work on and build automotive, web and IoT projects.

Jonathan joins the Savvy Coders team as a graduate of our Data Analytics + Python boot camp.  A Naval Officer of nearly 20 years, Jonathan was one of our first VET TEC funded students, and can fully appreciate the challenges of transitioning from a career of military service into the civilian workforce.  As the Data Analytics + Python Program Director, Jonathan enjoys partnering with our students as they pursue new and challenging professional goals, encouraging them along the way.

Traveling since infancy in a military family, then again throughout his own military career, he now calls Vermont home, where tapping maple trees, skiing and hiking with his family occupy much of his free time.

Anthony is a graduate of the Savvy Coders cybersecurity boot camp.  Current software test engineer and Accenture federal services.  Life has been a long journey for me from the being a chef and starting over in the tech world.  I let my former experience with management and communication to help me build a career in the tech world.

James-Lee is a graduate of the Savvy Coders Data Analytics + Python boot camp. After graduating from the DAP program with Savvy Coders, James went on to receive his ICAgile certification in December of 2022, and has since gone on to pursue the study of Data Science. James enrolled in the Data Science Bootcamp with the Flatiron School in April of 2023, and graduated from the program on July 13th, 2023.
