Unlock New Career Opportunities with WIOA and SLATE Missouri Job Center

Navigating the job market can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. Through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), the SLATE Missouri Job Center provides personalized support to help job seekers move forward in their careers. Whether you’re looking to re-enter the workforce, gain new skills, or take the next step in your career path, WIOA can open the door to valuable resources and training.

What is WIOA?

WIOA was created to strengthen and improve our nation’s public workforce system. The program connects individuals—including young people and those facing barriers to employment—with training and opportunities that lead to quality jobs and long-term careers. At the same time, it helps employers hire and retain the skilled workers they need.

By enrolling, participants gain access to staff-assisted services designed to boost employability, increase career readiness, and enhance marketability in today’s competitive job market. In some cases, financial assistance is available to cover the cost of training or education.

Who Can Participate?

WIOA is open to a wide range of job seekers, including:

  • St. Louis City residents aged 18 or older

  • U.S. work-authorized individuals

  • Anyone unemployed or facing layoff

  • Low-income individuals who are currently employed but seeking advancement

(Selective Service registration is required for those applicable.)

How to Get Started

Taking the first step is simple. Register—or update your registration—in MoJobs, Missouri’s statewide job-matching system. From there, the SLATE Missouri Job Center team will guide you through the process of enrolling and connecting with resources tailored to your needs.

Why WIOA Could Be Right for You

Whether you’re just starting out, seeking to change industries, or looking to strengthen your skills, WIOA provides a pathway to greater career opportunities. With the right support, training, and connections, you can build the future you’ve been working toward.
