Boot Camp Enrollment Up 20% in 2020 Despite Pandemic
ST. LOUIS, MO — Savvy Coders announces they set new enrollment records in 2020 despite the impact of the pandemic. Boot Camp student numbers were up 20% in 2020. Now in its sixth year, Savvy boasts over 200 graduates many employed by local St. Louis firms.
“We had to shift all courses in 2020 from in-person learning to online instruction. Despite that challenge, Savvy Coders is excited to continue our program that helps mostly underserved young adults become trained in software development skills,” said Elaine Queathem, Founder of Savvy Coders.
Queathem said many students have begun on a new career path with outstanding potential both financially and professionally. “Several of our grads are working for large St. Louis businesses with base salaries of $50,000 and more. Some recent graduates have found new careers at such companies as MasterCard International, Accenture Federal Services, and UNCOMN, a B2B management and technology consulting service.”
The Savvy Coders Full Stack boot camp is an intensive 160-hour course on the most up to date techniques on HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, teaching students how to structure, build, and style webpages with the most widely used programming tools and resources. Graduates receive an IC Agile Certified Professional designation. It is a joint effort of Savvy Coders and community agencies to teach a solid foundation of software development skills to the underemployed and unemployed in the St. Louis area.
New in 2021 is the Data Analytics + Python 12 week course. Enrolling now, it is the next evolution in training for both current business professionals as well as those who wish to pursue a career in one of the fastest-growing areas of the economy, business intelligence. Python is a necessary language enabling individuals to work with data through machine learning and artificial intelligence. Analyzing how to apply that data is a key component of intelligent decision making. Both will be taught in the boot camp. Graduates earn Tableau Desktop Certification.
“Nearly all companies have shifted to data-driven decision making. The ability to gather and decipher data is a strong skill set greatly desired by companies nationwide. The job boards are full of companies seeking to add personnel to their data analytics team. We have excellent and experienced python and data analytics professionals teaching this course. It is different than anything else offered in the St. Louis region.”
Eligible students can apply for a full scholarship for the Savvy Coders boot camps through a program made possible by a U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) grant received by the United Auto Workers – Labor Employment and Training Corporation (UAW-LETC) with support from the United Auto Workers Region 5 and the state of Missouri.
